Just over a year ago we found our new home, a project house but I fell in love with its potential!!! Including the garden. In usual estate agent speak it was described as having “well stocked borders” an understatement if ever I saw one. Fast forward to July when we moved in and in the middle of a hot hot summer and our garden had flourished even more in these conditions and resembled a jungle (not in a good way) see first pic. We thought we were up for the challenge and tried clearing but quickly realised it was too big a task so called in the experts to clear the lot as it was too difficult to save anything see pic2. Over the summer and whilst the builders were progressing with our extension my husband started to sort- he shifted piles and piles of rocks, filled in a putrid pond, cleared piles and piles of rubbish and it still looked like a dumping ground see pic 3 but we had a vision. About 6 weeks ago the gardeners started work and were making good progress - Pic 4- until torrential rain halted proceedings. However, this weekend all the snagging was completed and save adding plants and colour we are done. Ella ❤️❤️❤️ her new space and we realise how hard the last year without a garden has been for her. This move may have slowed down our travels but we have a gorgeous haven to hang out in. I was scrolling through social media today and a post reminded me of a moment only a few weeks into my round the world trip (how can it be 21years a go). This memory has made me all warm inside so thought I would share. I had spent a month in the US before boarding a flight to the South Pacific. First stop Tahiti. I was on the main island 🌴 for a few days and to be honest I wasn’t feeling it, but I had another 4 days until my flight out so I boarded a ferry ⛴ to Moorea. I instantly felt better and made my way to a campsite that had a few dorms and was right on the beach. I checked in, chilled on the beach, wrote a couple of letters home and then headed to my shared dorm. My roomie was an 80 year old lady 👵. She had recently lost her husband, the love of her life and as he had been a man with no desire to travel she stayed home with him her whole adult life. Only a few weeks after saying her goodbyes she bought herself a round the world 🌎 ticket and set off, all by herself and with no real clue/plan. Her agent had suggested the stops and times and she just agreed. She was a complete inspiration and everyone on the campsite loved her spirit and I was blessed with just spending 4 days with this wonderful human being. I never heard from her again but I am sure she had the time of her life. Safe to say 🍣 lunch today was a hit. Ella loves this place and pretty sure @yosushi is now one of her favourite places. Now it’s back home with an array of goodies from @intutraffordcentre. Back at work today 😫 but it was a fabulous weekend. After our walk around Malham Cove on Sunday we donned our walking boots again yesterday. We walked along part of the Pennine Way through the fields and a couple of pretty little Hamlets and fawned over so many lambs. Yesterday we headed to the gorgeous village of Malham in the @yorkshiredales National Park. It was as such scorching day but we were prepped and despite a teeny bit of whinging Ella made it in one piece. The scenery was spectacular and I can’t believe I have not hiked here before seeing Janet’s Foss, Gorsedale Scar and the magnificent Malham Cove. Some of the walk was tough with little legs in the heat so she certainly deserved her ice cream 🍦 at the end and we deserved our cold refreshments on the lawn outside @thelisterarms. After a fab day spent with friends yesterday we did a detour on the way home and headed to @ntrufford @nationaltrust for their @eastereggtrail. What a glorious day and such a pretty place to wander around for a couple of hours. The bluebells woodlands are just stunning. Lady night I head to the @theivymanchester for a couple of cocktails (yes on a school night). Two delicious passion fruit mojitos later we headed to the bathroom. OMG they are stunning, check out the beautiful ceiling.
