Review – Chalet Linny

After our successful first ski-trip in Morzine at Chalet Beziere last year we were definitely a little bit hooked. We are still very much beginners but were keen to improve and get booked up for 2018. Sadly, our friends couldn’t join us this year, so it was just going to be the three of us and despite the snow not being amazing (well non-existent in Morzine) during Easter 2017  – as it was a week earlier we decided to brave it as we loved the town so much.

So, we contacted Treeline Chalets again and whilst they do predominantly offer sole occupancy, particularly in peak times, they did have availability for a family room in Chalet Linny.

Treeline Chalets

Treeline are a small company based in Morzine that offer both self-catered and catered accommodation. They have been operating in Morzine for 10 years and have won a plethora of awards. After staying with them for the last 2 years it is clear to see why.

Chalet Linny

Chalet Linny could not be in a better location – it is right in the heart of the pretty little town and we were super excited by the chalet as it looked so luxurious on the website. Having stayed with Treeline previously we knew we were not going to be hoodwinked by “professional photography” as what you see is what you get. (They are also adding an outdoor hot-tub for the 2018/2019 season making this even more appealing) .

The chalet can accommodate up to 12 people across 6 rooms. Our room was over the main living room and consisted of a double bed and a single put-you-up bed for Ella. The décor was gorgeous – contemporary and warm at the same time which can difficult to achieve and with big fluffy duvets and throws on the beds. There was plenty of cupboard space and our own ginormous bathroom with double sinks, huge bath and a separate shower. We didn’t see any of the other rooms but can see from the photos that they are all a pretty similar standard.

The main living area is the heart of the chalet and has a large open fire, open kitchen, dining area all decorated in the same contemporary but comfortable standard as the bedrooms. The living room has a floor to ceiling window, out of which you can see the Pleney (the main slope and where the bubble lift takes you up to the main ski area). A five-minute walk takes you to the bubble where a lot of the children’s ski lessons start. It is also where you can find a variety of shops, ski-hire places, bars and restaurants. It is also only a slightly longer walk to the Super Morzine which takes you up to Avoriaz.  You can also jump on the little ski-train that departs transfers you between the two making it much easier with all your ski equipment – particularly with little ones.

Downstairs there is a boot room and plenty of space to hang all your gear.

Booking

Once again, the booking process was simple, and they offered a discount as we were returning guests. Whilst you cannot book online they confirm your reservation then send a link to complete all your details and any additional requirements then it is easy to make payment (deposit) and wait until the balance is due.

Additional Services

Treeline recommend several suppliers on their website for lessons and they also have a local ski equipment company come to the chalet to kit you out. We used Ski-Mobile last year and were more than happy to use their services again this year.

We also love the fact that Treeline will go and get your ski-passes for you to save you having to queue for them on your first day and they make sure you get the best deal available to you.

They will also provide transfers at an additional cost and you can choose from private or shared transfers.

Food and Drink

One of the reasons we chose to return to Morzine and specifically Treeline was because of the standard of the food and drink. We were really spoilt last year and therefore looking forward to more of the same this year. We did wonder if we had just got lucky, however, after following them on Instagram this year we could see that this is an area the team at Treeline really take seriously.

We were not disappointed – from continental breakfasts with a hot option every day, to a treat when we got back from skiing in the afternoon, right through to the evening meal (both children’s and adults)  – the quality was amazing. Each menu constructed and delivered with care and attention. We can see why people return year after year and why Treeline are award winners.

Chalet Hosts

Our hosts were again brilliant, not just in the delivery of food but for putting all guests at ease with their lovely manner, fun personas and desire to give everyone a great experience. We did not feel in any way like we were at the back end of the season and they even did a little Easter egg hunt for Ella which she loved.

Summary

I have very rarely returned to a place but after such a great experience with our friends last year we thought Treeline were the ideal choice for the three of us to return to this year. They have a variety of chalets both catered and self-catered and from our experience now of 2 properties they are great quality. Treeline really do put their guests at the centre of everything they do which results in a fabulous experience.

I would recommend Treeline again and again and we will absolutely return to them next time we are in Morzine. Chalet Linny was amazing – perfect location, decorated beautifully, great hosts and delicious food.
